Acholeplasmatales Freundt et al. 1984, ord. nov.
Type genus: ¤ Acholeplasma Edward and Freundt 1970 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. Acholeplasma -atos, type genus of the order; suff. -ales, ending denoting an order; N.L. fem. pl. n. Acholeplasmatales, the Acholeplasma order.
