Etymology: N.L. n. acidum (from L. adj. acidus -a -um, sour, tart, acid), an acid; Gr. neut. n. soma, body; N.L. neut. n. Acidisoma, an acid (-requiring) body.

Acidisoma sibiricum Belova et al. 2009, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) TPB606 = DSM 21000 = VKM B-2487.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AM947653.
Etymology: N.L. neut. adj. sibiricum from Siberia (region in northwestern Asia, the name said to come from Sibir, ancient Tatar fortress at the confluence of the rivers Tobol and Irtysh), the region of Russia from where the type strain was isolated.
