Etymology: N.L. neut. n. acidum (from L. adj. acidus -a -um, sour) an acid; L. n. terra, soil; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Aciditerrimonas, acidic soil monad.

Etymology: L. n. ferrum, iron; L. part. adj. reducens, leading back, bringing back to a state or conditionand and, in chemistry, converting to a reduced oxidation state; N.L. part. adj. ferrireducens, iron-reducing.
