Type species: ¤ Alkalibacillus haloalkaliphilus (Fritze 1996) Jeon et al. 2005.
Etymology: N.L. n. alkali (from Arabic article al, the; Arabic n. qaliy, ashes of saltwort), alkali; L. masc. n. bacillus, rod; N.L. masc. n. Alkalibacillus, bacillus living under alkaline conditions.

Alkalibacillus almallahensis Perez-Dav et al. 2014, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) S1LM8=CECT 8373=DSM 27545.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: KC968225.
Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. almallahensis, of al-mallaha, a name of Arabic origin, which gave the name to the township of La Malahá, the place where the type strain was isolated.
