Etymology: Gr. pref. a- not; N.L. n. acidum mycolicum, mycolic acid; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. n. kokkos) a grain, berry; N.L. masc. n. Amycolicicoccus, a coccus without mycolic acids.
