Etymology: Gr. pref. an, not; Gr. n. aer aeros, air; L. n. sal salis, salt; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Anaerosalibacter, a halotolerant rod not living in air.

Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. bizertensis, of or belonging to Bizerte, pertaining to the Bizerte area of north Tunisia where the organism was isolated.
