Type species: ¤ Anderseniella baltica Brettar et al. 2007.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Anderseniella, named in honour of the late marine scientist Valérie Andersen, Observatoire Océanologique de Villefranche sur Mer, France, in recognition of her valuable work on marine ecosytems.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. baltica, from the Baltic Sea, referring to the source of the type strain.
