Type genus: ¤ Bacillus Cohn 1872 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Bacillus, type genus of the order; suff. -ales, ending denoting an order; N.L. fem. pl. n. Bacillales, the Bacillus order.
