Type species: ¤ Bauldia litoralis (Bauld et al. 1983) Yee et al. 2010.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Bauldia, of Bauld, named in honour of John Bauld, an Australian microbiologist who isolated, investigated and named members of the genus Prosthecomicrobium and Planctomyces maris.

Etymology: L. part. fem. adj. consociata, associated; intended to mean growth in a community with cellulose degrading bacteria.
