Etymology: L. adj. bellus, beautiful; L. fem. n. linea, line; N.L. fem. n. Bellilinea, beautifully line-shaped organism.

Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) GOMI-1 = DSM 17877 = JCM 13669.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AB243672.
Etymology: L. adj. caldus, hot; L. n. fistula, a tube, pipe; N.L. gen. n. caldifistulae, of a hot pipe, referring to a thermophilic reactor vessel for wastewater/waste treatment, from where the type strain was isolated.
