Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Bernardet, named after Jean-François Bernardet, researcher at INRA Research Center, Jouy-en-Josas, France, and chairman of ICSP subcommittee on the taxonomy of aerobic Bacteroidetes; N.L. fem. n. Bernardetia a genus named after Bernardet.
