Type species: ¤ Bounagaea algeriensis Meklat et al. 2015.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. bounagaea, of Bounaga, named in honour of the memory and untimely death of our late Professor Djilali Bounaga (1931–1980) of the Centre National de Recherche sur les Zones Arides (CNRZA), and also in honour of our Professor Nicole Bounaga-Riveill (CNRZA and URZA), for their broad contributions in teaching and training of researchers in the field of biology in Algeria.
