Etymology: L. n. cavum, a cave (hole); L. fem. n. cella, a small room, a cell; N.L. fem. n. Cavicella, a cell from a cave (hole).

Cavicella subterranea Franca et al. 2015, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) W2.09-231=CECT 8582=LMG 28332.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: JX458449.
Etymology: L. fem. adj. subterranea, below the terrestrial ground, referring to the origin of the inoculum.
