Type species: ¤ Conexibacter woesei Monciardini et al. 2003.
Etymology: L. part. adj. conexus, bound, tied; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Conexibacter, a rod that is bound.

Etymology: L. masc. adj. arvalis, of or pertaining to a cultivated field.

Etymology: N.L. gen. n. stalactiti, of a stalactite, referring to the sample from which the type strain was isolated.

Etymology: N.L. gen. masc. n. woesei, of Woese, named to honour Carl R. Woese, for his pioneering work on the use of 16S rRNA in phylogenetic analysis.
