Cryomorpha Bowman et al. 2003, gen. nov. (Type genus of the family ¤ Cryomorphaceae Bowman et al. 2003).
Type species: ¤ Cryomorpha ignava Bowman et al. 2003.
Etymology: Gr. n. kruos, icy cold, frost; Gr. fem. n. morphê, shape or form; N.L. fem. n. Cryomorpha, cold shape.

Etymology: L. fem. adj. ignava, lazy, pertaining to the biochemically and nutritionally inert nature of the species.
