Type genus: ¤ Cystobacter Schroeter 1886 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Cystobacter, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Cystobacteraceae, the Cystobacter family.
