Effluviibacter Suresh et al. 2006, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Effluviibacter roseus Suresh et al. 2006.
Etymology: L. neut. n. effluvium, outflow; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Effluviibacter, rod from an outflow, referring to the source of isolation of the first strain.
Valid publication: SURESH (K.), MAYILRAJ (S.) and CHAKRABARTI (T.): Effluviibacter roseus gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from muddy water, belonging to the family 'Flexibacteraceae'. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2006, 56, 1703-1707.

Note: Wang et al. 2010 propose to transfer Effluviibacter roseus Suresh et al. 2006 (the type species of the genus Effluviibacter) to the genus ¤ Pontibacter Nedashkovskaya et al. 2005 as ¤ Pontibacter roseus (Suresh et al. 2006) Wang et al. 2010, comb. nov.. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Effluviibacter to ¤ Pontibacter.
