Etymology: L. fem. n. fodina, mine; L. adj. curvatus -a -um, curved; N.L. fem. n. (N.L. fem. adj. used as a substantive) Fodinicurvata, curved-shaped bacterium isolated from a mine.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. fenggangensis, of or belonging to Fenggang, the locality of the salt mine from which the organism was isolated.
