Goodfellowiella Labeda et al. 2008, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Goodfellowiella coeruleoviolacea (Preobrazhenskaya and Terekhova 1987) Labeda et al. 2008.
Illegitimate synonym: ¤ Goodfellowia Labeda and Kroppenstedt 2006.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Goodfellowiella, named for Michael Goodfellow, a microbiologist at the University of Newcastle, in recognition of his contributions to microbial systematics.
Valid publication: LABEDA (D.P.), KROPPENSTEDT (R.M.), EUZÉBY (J.P.) and TINDALL (B.J.): Proposal of Goodfellowiella gen. nov. to replace the illegitimate genus name Goodfellowia Labeda and Kroppenstedt 2006. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2008, 58, 1047-1048.
Original article in IJSEM Online

Note: ¤ Goodfellowia Labeda and Kroppenstedt 2006 is illegitimate because it is a later homonym of Goodfellowia Hartert 1903 (Animalia, Chordata, Aves, Passeriformes, Sturnidae). See Principle 2. Consequently, a new genus designation Goodfellowiella has been proposed by Labeda et al. 2008.

Basonym: ¤ Actinomadura coeruleoviolacea Preobrazhenskaya and Terekhova 1987.
Another Synonym: ¤ Saccharothrix coeruleoviolacea (Preobrazhenskaya and Terekhova 1987) Kroppenstedt et al. 1991.
Illegitimate synonym: ¤ Goodfellowia coeruleoviolacea (Preobrazhenskaya and Terekhova 1987) Labeda and Kroppenstedt 2006.
Etymology: L. adj. coeruleus, dark-colored, dark blue; L. adj. violaceus, violet-colored, violet; N.L. fem. adj. coeruleoviolacea, dark violet-colored.
Valid publication: LABEDA (D.P.), KROPPENSTEDT (R.M.), EUZÉBY (J.P.) and TINDALL (B.J.): Proposal of Goodfellowiella gen. nov. to replace the illegitimate genus name Goodfellowia Labeda and Kroppenstedt 2006. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2008, 58, 1047-1048.

Note: ¤ Goodfellowia coeruleoviolacea (Preobrazhenskaya and Terekhova 1987) Labeda and Kroppenstedt 2006 is illegitimate because of precedence of Goodfellowia Hartert 1903 (Animalia, Chordata, Aves, Passeriformes, Sturnidae). See Principle 2. Consequently, a new species designation Goodfellowiella coeruleoviolacea (Preobrazhenskaya and Terekhova 1987) Labeda et al. 2008 has been proposed by Labeda et al. 2008.
