Note: In the first edition of the Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology [1] and in the second edition of the Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology [2], the description of Halococcus morrhuae was attributed to Klebahn 1919 as Halococcus morrhuae (Klebahn 1919) Kocur and Hodgkiss 1973. Although Klebahn (1919) was probably the first to adequately describe this group of organisms, he did not propose a new species [2].
