Halonatronum Zhilina et al. 2001, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Halonatronum saccharophilum Zhilina et al. 2001.
Etymology: Gr. n. hals halos, salt; N.L. neut. n. natron, arbitrarily derived from the Arabic n. natrun or natron soda; N.L. neut. n. Halonatronum, an organism growing with salt and soda.

Etymology: Gr. n. sakchâr, sugar; N.L. adj. philus -a -um (from Gr. adj. philos -ê -on), friend, loving; N.L. neut. adj. saccharophilum, sugar-loving.
