Type species: ¤ Hydrogenibacillus schlegelii (Schenk and Aragno 1981) Kämpfer et al. 2013.
Etymology: N.L. n. hydrogenum, hydrogen; L. masc. n. bacillus, a small staff, a wand, a rod, and also a generic name; N.L. masc. n. Hydrogenibacillus, hydrogen bacillus, referring to the ability of the organisms to oxidize hydrogen.
