Etymology: L. neut. n. intestinum, gut; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Intestinibacter, a rod from the gut.

Basonym: ¤ Clostridium bartlettii Song et al. 2004
Etymology: N.L. masc. gen. n. bartlettii, to honor John G. Bartlett for his contributions to the role of intestinal flora in disease and to our knowledge of infectiuos diseases in general.
