Etymology: L. adj. levis, smooth; L. fem. n. linea, line; N.L. fem. n. Levilinea, smooth, line-shaped organism.

Etymology: Gr. n. saccharon, sugar; N.L. adj. lyticus -a -um (from Gr. adj. lutikos -ê -on), able to loosen, able to dissolve; N.L. fem. adj. saccharolytica, saccharolytic, using various sugars.
