Type species: ¤ Luteococcus japonicus Tamura et al. 1994.
Etymology: L. adj. luteus, yellow; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos, grain, seed), coccus; N.L. masc. n. Luteococcus, yellow coccus.
