Type species: ¤ Maribaculum marinum Lai et al. 2009.
Etymology: L. n. mare, the sea; L. neut. n. baculum, a stick or rod; N.L. neut. n. Maribaculum, rod from the sea.
Valid publication: LAI (Q.), YUAN (J.) and SHAO (Z.): Maribaculum marinum gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from deep seawater. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2009, 59, 3083-3087.

¤ Henriciella Quan et al. 2009.

Note: Lee et al. 2011 propose to transfer ¤ Maribaculum marinum Lai et al. 2009, the type species of the genus Maribaculum, to the genus ¤ Henriciella as ¤ Henriciella aquimarina (Lai et al. 2009) Lee et al. 2011, nom. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Maribaculum to ¤ Henriciella.
