Type species: ¤ Melghiribacillus thermohalophilus Addou et al. 2015.
Etymology: N.L. n. Melghir -iris, the salt lake Chott Melghir in north-east Algeria; L. masc. n. bacillus, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Melghiribacillus, a rod from Chott Melghir, where the type strain of the type species was isolated.
