Type species: ¤ Methylomarinum vadi Hirayama et al. 2013.
Etymology: N.L. n. methylum (from French méthyle), the methyl group; N.L. pref. methylo-, pertaining to the methyl radical; N.L. neut. adj. marinum, of the sea; N.L. neut. n. Methylomarinum, methyl-using bacterium from the sea.
