Type species: ¤ Modicisalibacter tunisiensis Ben Ali Gam et al. 2007.
Etymology: L. adj. modicus, moderate, limited; L. n. sal salis, salt; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Modicisalibacter, a moderately halophilic rod.
Valid publication: BEN ALI GAM (Z.), ABDELKAFI (S.), CASALOT (L.), THOLOZAN (J.L.), OUESLATI (R.) and LABAT (M.): Modicisalibacter tunisiensis gen. nov., sp. nov., an aerobic, moderately halophilic bacterium isolated from an oilfield-water injection sample, and emended description of the family Halomonadaceae Franzmann et al. 1989 emend Dobson and Franzmann 1996 emend. Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: DQ641495.
Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. tunisiensis, of Tunisia, where the first strains were isolated.
