Title

Family Nakamurellaceae

Warning: In the List of Prokaryotic names with Standing in Nomenclature, an arrow () only indicates the sequence of valid publication of names and does not mean that the last name in the sequence must be used (see: Introduction).

Classification (Warning: see also the file "Classification of prokaryotes: Introduction").

For a detailed description of this taxon see Bergey’s Manual of Systematics of Archaea and Bacteria (BMSAB).

Nakamurellaceae Tao et al. 2004, fam. nov.
Type genus: ¤ Nakamurella Tao et al. 2004, gen. nov.
Illegitimate synonym: ¤ Microsphaeraceae Rainey et al. 1997.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Nakamurella, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Nakamurellaceae, the Nakamurella family.
Valid publication: TAO (T.S.), YUE (Y.Y.), CHEN (W.X.) and CHEN (W.F.): Proposal of Nakamurella gen. nov. as a substitute for the bacterial genus Microsphaera Yoshimi et al. 1996 and Nakamurellaceae fam. nov. as a substitute for the illegitimate bacterial family Microsphaeraceae Rainey et al. 1997. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2004, 54, 999-1000.

Note: The name ¤ Microsphaeraceae Rainey et al. 1997 is illegitimate because the type genus (¤ Microsphaera Yoshimi et al. 1996) is illegitimate (see ¤ Microsphaera). Consequently, a new family designation Nakamurellaceae has been proposed by Tao et al. 2004.
