Type species: ¤ Natribacillus halophilus Echigo et al. 2012.
Etymology: N.L. n. natron (arbitrarily derived from the Arabic n. natrun or natron), soda, sodium carbonate; L. masc. n. bacillus, rod; N.L. masc. n. Natribacillus, sodium (-requiring) rod, referring to the high sodium ion requirement and the cell shape.
