Etymology: N.L. n. natron (arbitrarily derived from the Arabic n. natrun or natron) soda, sodium carbonate; N.L. pref. natrono-, pertaining to soda; L. masc. n. bacillus, a small rod; N.L. masc. n. Natronobacillus, soda-loving rod.
