Nautilia Miroshnichenko et al. 2002, gen. nov. (Type genus of the order ¤ Nautiliales Miroshnichenko et al. 2004; type genus of the family ¤ Nautiliaceae Miroshnichenko et al. 2004.
Type species: ¤ Nautilia lithotrophica Miroshnichenko et al. 2002.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Nautilia, named after Nautile, the name of the French submersible used for the exploration and investigation of deep-sea hydrothermal areas.

Etymology: L. gen. n. abyssi, of an abyss, of the great deep.

Notes:
1 At the time of publication, the type strain was not deposited in two publicly accessible service collections in different countries, and Nautilia lithotrophica Miroshnichenko et al. 2002 was not validly published [Rules 27(3) and 30]. However, according to the Judicial Opinion 81, Nautilia lithotrophica Miroshnichenko et al. 2002 is now considered to be validly published, since deposit in a second culture collection in a different country has been documented.
