Etymology: Gr. prep. para, beside; N.L. fem. n. Ferrimonas, a bacterial genus name; N.L. fem. n. Paraferrimonas, beside Ferrimonas.

Etymology: L. neut. n. sedimentum, a settling, sediment; L. suffix -cola, dweller; N.L. masc. n. sedimenticola, sediment dweller, referring to the isolation of the strains from sediment at Okinawa Island.
