Paralactobacillus Leisner et al. 2000, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Paralactobacillus selangorensis Leisner et al. 2000.
Etymology: Gr. prep. para, resembling; N.L. n. Lactobacillus, a bacterial genus; N.L. masc. n. Paralactobacillus, resembling the genus Lactobacillus.

Note: Haakensen et al. 2011 propose to transfer ¤ Paralactobacillus selangorensis Leisner et al. 2000, the type species of the genus Paralactobacillus, to the genus ¤ Lactobacillus as ¤ Lactobacillus selangorensis (Leisner et al. 2000) Haakensen et al. 2011, comb. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Paralactobacillus to ¤ Lactobacillus.

Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. selangorensis, pertaining to the province of Selangor, Malaysia.
