Note: The type strain cited in the Approved Lists (the strain ATCC 33314= DSM 20333 = JCM 5885 = NCDO 1859) seems to belong in the species ¤ Pediococcus pentosaceus.

Note: According to Wieme et al. 2012 [1], the type strains of ¤ Pediococcus lolii deposited as DSM 19927 and JCM 15055 are Pediococcus acidilactici strains. However, these authors also indicate that the question of whether ¤ Pediococcus lolii and Pediococcus acidilactici are to be treated as heterotypic synonyms depends on the availability of biological material corresponding with the original description of ¤ Pediococcus lolii by Doi et al. 2009 [2]. It would appear that type material of ¤ Pediococcus lolii corresponding with the data published by Doi et al. (2009) is currently not available from culture collections [3].
