Note: The type strain of Pedomicrobium australicum and the only other strain (strain IFAM WD-1355) studied by Gerbers and Beese have been lost. The prospect of designating a neotype strain is remote in the absence of suitable differentiating phenotypic characteristics. So, Cox and Sly propose that the species Pedomicrobium australicum Gebers and Beese 1988 should not be retained.
