Type species: ¤ Pelospora glutarica Matthies et al. 2000.
Etymology: Gr. n. pelos, mud; Gr. fem. n. spora, a seed, and in biology a spore; N.L. fem. n. Pelospora, a sporeforming bacterium originating from mud.

Etymology: N.L. n. acidum glutaricum, glutaric acid; N.L. fem. adj. glutarica, referring to glutarate as the key substrate of this species.
