Note: According to Piñeiro et al. 2008, the family ¤ Peredibacteraceae encompasses the genera ¤ Peredibacter Davidov and Jurkevitch 2004 [¤ Peredibacter starrii (Seidler et al. 1972) Davidov and Jurkevitch 2004], and ¤ Bacteriolyticum Piñeiro et al. 2008 [¤ Bacteriolyticum stolpii (Seidler et al. 1972) Piñeiro et al. 2008]. The names ¤ Bacteriolyticum, and ¤ Bacteriolyticum stolpii are illegitimate (see the file ¤ Bacteriolyticum). According to Principle 6 and to Rule 23a Note 5, the names which must be adopted are ¤ Bacteriovorax Baer et al. 2000 and ¤ Bacteriovorax stolpii (Seidler et al. 1972) Baer et al. 2000 [or ¤ Bdellovibrio stolpii Seidler et al. 1972 (Approved Lists 1980)]. The genus ¤ Bacteriovorax is the type genus of the family ¤ Bacteriovoracaceae Davidov and Jurkevitch 2004. So, according to Rule 51b (1), Peredibacteraceae Piñeiro et al. 2008 is an illegitimate name (the family must be called Bacteriovoracaceae and not Peredibacteraceae).
