Type species: ¤ Perexilibacter aurantiacus Yoon et al. 2007.
Etymology: L. adj. perexilis, very slender; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod or staff; N.L. masc. n. Perexilibacter, very slender rod, referring to its cell shape.
