Type species: ¤ Phaeovibrio sulfidiphilus Lakshmi et al. 2011.
Etymology: Gr. adj. phaeos, brown; L. v. vibro, to set in tremulous motion, move to and fro, vibrate; N.L. masc. n. vibrio, that which vibrates, and also a genus name of bacteria possessing a curved rod shape; N.L. masc. n. Phaeovibrio, brown vibrio.
