Type species: ¤ Rhodopirellula baltica Schlesner et al. 2004.
Etymology: Gr. neut. n. rhodon, a rose; N.L. fem. n. Pirellula, name of a bacterial genus; N.L. fem. n. Rhodopirellula, a red Pirellula.
