¤ Silicibacter lacuscaerulensis Petursdottir and Kristjansson 1999.

Note: According to Muramatsu et al. 2007, 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis suggests that the genera Ruegeria and ¤ Silicibacter are closely related and should be integrated into one genus (i.e. Ruegeria Uchino et al. 1999 which has priority over ¤ Silicibacter Petursdottir and Kristjansson 1999). However, their differential phenotypic properties do not support this unification. Consequently the authors retain the two species of Silicibacter (¤ Silicibacter lacuscaerulensis Petursdottir and Kristjansson 1999, and ¤ Silicibacter pomeroyi González et al. 2003) in their paper.

Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) DSS-3 = ATCC 700808= DSM 15171.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AF098491.
Basonym: ¤ Silicibacter pomeroyi González et al. 2003.
Etymology: N.L. masc. gen. n. pomeroyi, of Lawrence R. Pomeroy, marine microbial ecologist who first elucidated the role of bacteria in the marine food web.
Valid publication: YI (H.), LIM (Y.W.) and CHUN (J.): Taxonomic evaluation of the genera Ruegeria and Silicibacter: a proposal to transfer the genus Silicibacter Petursdottir and Kristjansson 1999 to the genus Ruegeria Uchino et al. 1999. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2007, 57, 815-819.

¤ Silicibacter pomeroyi González et al. 2003.
