Etymology: L. pl. n. salinae, salt source; L. neut. n. filum, thread; N.L. neut. n. Salinifilum, a thread from a salt source.

Basonym: ¤ Saccharopolyspora aidingensis Xia et al. 2017.
Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. aidingensis, of or belonging to Aiding lake, a salt lake in China, where the type strain was isolated.
