Type species: ¤ Saxeibacter lacteus Lee et al. 2008.
Etymology: L. adj. saxeus, of rock; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Saxeibacter, a rod isolated from rock.

Note: Kim et al. 2012 propose to transfer Saxeibacter lacteus Lee et al. 2008 (the type species of the genus Saxeibacter ) to the genus ¤ Nakamurella as ¤ Nakamurella lactea (Lee et al. 2008) Kim et al. 2012, comb. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Saxeibacter to ¤ Nakamurella.
