Shimazuella Park et al. 2007, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Shimazuella kribbensis Park et al. 2007.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Shimazuella, named after Akira Shimazu, a Japanese microbiologist from Tokyo University, who has contributed to the field of prokaryotic taxonomy.

Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) A 9500 = DSM 45090 = JCM 14729 = KCTC 9933.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AB049939.
Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. kribbensis, pertaining to KRIBB, an arbitrary adjective formed from the acronym of the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, KRIBB, where the taxonomic studies on this new genus and novel species were performed.
