Type species: ¤ Snodgrassella alvi Kwong and Moran 2013.
Etymology: N.L. dim. fem. n. Snodgrassella, named after Robert Evans Snodgrass, a pioneer in the study of insect physiology in the early 20th century.

Etymology: L. gen. n. alvi, of the bowels, referring to the location of the species in the gut of bees.
