Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Soortia, named after the Badab-Soort spring where the type strain was isolated.

Etymology: L. adj. roseus, rose-coloured, pink; Gr. n. hals, halos salt; Gr. adj. philos, loving; N.L. fem. adj. roseihalophila, pink-coloured and salt-loving.
