Etymology: N.L. n. spora (from Gr. n. spora, a seed), a spore; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Sporobacter, a spore-forming rod.

Etymology: L. n. termes -itis, wood-eating worm; N.L. masc. adj. termitidis, pertaining to the termite.
