Type species: ¤ Sporomusa sphaeroides Möller et al. 1985.
Etymology: G. n. spora, a seed, and in biology a spore; N.L. n. Musa, a scientific genus name, a banana (Musa spp.); N.L. fem. n. Sporomusa, spore-bearing banana.
